Purchase! Reuse!! Recycle!!!

Knock Knock!!!!

Who’s there?

It’s Yettieboo 😍

Hiya! My name is Yetunde and it’s a delight to collaborate with Lolade of Lolars Fabrics to dish out some posts relating to fabrics, fashion, life style, self care and so much more.

Let’s start with making your money go a long way and getting value for money relating to clothes and accessories.. there’s nothing like buying QUALITY and I know Lolars fabrics is awesome on that since inception in December 2014.

This brings me to purchasing good quality fabrics that will stand the test of time.

I remember I bought 5 yards of Swiss Handcut Sequins and beaded lace fabric about 12 years ago. Then it was handcut lace that we used to identify quality lace fabrics! They were termed “Heavy”

It was tailored into the classic iro and buba (Nigerian traditional wear). I adorned it for a family photoshoot that year and I felt like the Queen 😜😂😜

I never wore it after that … fashion evolved, new fabrics released, traditional fashion evolved from iro and buba (Yoruba) and George blouse and wrapper(Igbos, Delta etc) to a nice fusion of different styles and concepts.

6 years ago... during a spring cleaning of my closet, I saw all the lovely iro and buba sets all tucked at the back of my closet.. forgotten and unloved.

I thought.. these fabrics would cost an arm and a leg now and they are just relegated to the “No Wear” zone.

I called my tailor, and complained bitterly.. she assured me she could convert iro and buba to either a blouse and wrapper or a blouse and skirt … my eyes shone bright !Let’s do this!!”

It came out lovely if I should say so myself.. a new set was created and I finally wore it last month for an event after 6 years …see below

Moral of the story is we should buy quality fabrics… you necessarily don’t have to splurge excessively. Check out some of these pretty pieces from Lolars Fabrics

Also we should get our money’s worth from these fabrics.. convert, remix, restyle, revamp etc…

Till I write your way again… go and excavate those iro and bubas in your closet and convert them to new pieces that will be versatile like pants, blouses or shirts, rompers, jackets or blazers, shorts and so much more.

Have a great week Y’all 😘
